Calculate NEET Score with Answer Key

Each correct answer carries 4 marks, and each wrong answer carries -1 mark. Unattempted questions will not be awarded marks and there will also not be any negative marking for these. Find a step-by-step guide to calculate NEET  Expected Marks.

Total NEET Marks = 180 MCQs x 4 = 720 Marks

Your NEET  Score = {(Total Number of correct answers x 4) – (Total number of incorrect answers x 1)}

NEET Percentile Based on Marks

The percentile score can be calculated by using the following formula:

Percentile Score (Based on Marks) = (Your NEET Score/NEET Topper’s Score) x 100

NEET Result : Tie-breaking Protocol

What if two or more candidates secure the same marks in the NEET UG results? Because the number of test-takers are too large so it is quite common to see that more than one candidate are securing the same score. Such candidates do not share a single rank in the NEET merit list. In order to handle this issue, NTA has established a procedure of breaking the tie. Following are criteria which followed in case of a tie in scores:

  1. Candidate having higher marks / percentile score in Biology (Botony & Zoology) in the Test.
  2. Candidate having higher marks / percentile scores in Chemistry in the Test.
  3. Candidate having higher marks / percentile scores in Physics on the Test.
  4. Candidate having less proportion of attempted wrong questions to correct questions in all subjects in the Test.
  5. Candidate having less proportion of attempted wrong questions to correct questions in Biology (Botony & Zoology) in the Test.
  6. Candidate with lesser number of attempted wrong answers to correct answers in Chemistry Test.
  7. Candidate with lesser number of attempted wrong answers to correct answers in Physics Test.

Note: NTA previously considered additional factors such as the candidate’s age in descending order and the application number, but these criteria have been removed for NEET going forward.

NEET Result and Merit List

NTA releases a merit list of the candidates attending the NEET exam. NTA issues many lists, as per the candidate’s category. An overall merit list is also released, comprising all the candidates who have passed the NEET examination. Further, these merit lists are sent by NTA to the respective conducting bodies of the NEET counselling, for national as well as state quotas. Using these lists, MCC and other counselling authorities will prepare the merit or seat allotment lists.

Types of NEET Merit Lists

  1. The overall merit list consists of names and ranks of all the candidates who appeared for NEET. This is the first merit list prepared by the NTA and forwarded to all national and state counseling bodies.
  2. Fifteen Percent AIQ Merit List: Those candidates who get qualified in the NEET UG result, their names would be included in the list. It would be prepared by the Medical Counselling Committee of MCC.
  3. State Quota Merit List: The counselling merit lists for admission to 85% of the state quota seats will be prepared by the respective states individually. These shall comprise candidates qualifying in the NEET result and registering for counselling in that respective state.

What is the Validity of NEET Result?

The validity of the NEET result varies for the candidates based on their destination to which the application is made. Applicants looking to pursue an MBBS degree from a foreign university should also apply for NEET . In this case, the validity depends upon the location of the institute.

  • NEET Result Validity for Institutes in India: For those applying to MBBS course within India, the NEET UG result is valid only for the current academic session.
  • NEET Result Validity for Foreign Universities: For candidate applying to MBBS courses outside India, the NEET result is expected to be valid for three years.
