Factors Determining the NEET Cut-off Marks for Government Colleges
The NEET cut-off for MBBS in government colleges depends on various factors.
- The exam’s difficulty level and the question asked in that particular year.
- Total number of seats available in NEET.
- Number of candidates attempting for the NEET exam.
- Overall performance of the candidate.
NEET Cut Off Tie-breaking Process
The National Testing Agency (NTA) uses a revised tie-breaking process for NEET to determine rank in case two or more candidate score the same marks.
- Higher marks in Biology, that is, the candidate having a higher combined score in Botany and Zoology, will be given priority.
- If the tie still prevails after Biology, then the marks in Chemistry are compared.
- Physics Marks – NEET : Physics marks will now be considered this year for NEET tie-breaking. Whereas earlier, it wasn’t in the very first step.
- Less Incorrect Answers (If the tie remains): If the tie persists after comparing score in all three subjects, the candidate with less number of incorrect answers in the entire NEET exam will be ranked higher.
- Less Incorrect Answers in Biology (If the tie remains): If the tie continues, the candidate with less number of incorrect answer, specifically in Biology is ranked higher.
- Higher in ChemistryIncorrect Answers: In case the tie persists after Biology and overall, the candidate having fewer incorrect answers in Chemistry is ranked higher. 7. Random Selection: In case none of the above-mentioned criteria breaks the tie, final ranking is done through a computer-generated random selection process. This is designed to be totally fair and without human intervention.

NEET Counseling
Counseling for NEET will be tentatively held for 15% All India Quota seats and 85% State Quota seats. After the declaration of the NEET results, All India Rank, and qualifying NEET UG cut-off, counseling will begin.
