In the former, the tool is specifically used for cooling and preservation, with heat removed from within and thrown out into the ambient environment, while in the latter, it can even be used both for heating and cooling by transferring heat from a colder area to a warmer area or vice versa.

In heating mode, a heat pump extract heat from the low-temperature win and transfers it to the high-temperature sink to provide warmth. Coefficient of Performance (COP): The COP of a refrigerator is a mathematical term that represent its efficiency. It is defined the ratio of the heat extracted from the interior to the work input required to achieve that extraction.

COP = Heat extracted / Work input

Heat Pump:
